Welcome!
This web site is conceived for offering information about the Italian Sighthound breed, my dogs profiles and to publish my available litters. For constant updates please follow me on Facebook, the link is at the bottom of the page.
My name is Héctor F. González Aviles, I am from Mexico City and I am a dog lover, especially the sighthounds. I have a degree in hotel business management and also I studied classical piano professionally. I work internationally as seafarer on private boats. Because of my work travels I have had the opportunity to import several individuals of Italian Greyhound from Europe to live at home with my family in Mexico City.
I perform a careful and responsible SELECTIVE BREEDING, based on individuals from the best bloodlines in Europe, sticking to the FCI standard of the breed, beauty, health and character of each dog.
Each imported or home born individual is watched for at least one year and then subject to clinical official health tests before any breeding plans. Usually I test heart and patella at the minimum. Individuals who present any defect including retained testicles, epilepsy, patella problem, extremely shyness, etc. are neutered and never used in the breeding program. Only 40% of imported the dogs passed all these initial filters. Later a "test mating" is done to evaluate his reproductive qualities before the incorporation into the main blood line. All health certificates are available in this web site under each dog´s profile. This process is slow and requires patience, perseverance and resources.
While developing my breeding program I may have available puppies eventually, but this is not my main activity and I cannot, neither I want to supply a big demand.
The main reason to import dogs from Europe is because I found out that very often the breed in Mexico looks more like the AKC standard, with big white markings, which are not allowed in the FCI, and Mexico is a FCI member.
The name “D’Artusi” came after my son Artus.
History
After many different dog breeds since my childhood, I got my first female of this breed, a fawn colour that we called Lady D'Artusi, acquired in Mexico City with FCI registration. I was so happy that I researched more about the best breeders worldwide and thru the years I have been collecting several more dogs, coming from the best European show champion lines. Thus, my dogs have travelled with me in cabin from the Basque Country, Tenerife, Valencia, Madrid. Paris, Bordeaux, Milan and Lithuania.
Vision
To produce a quality line of Italian Sighthounds in Mexico under the official FCI standard, healthy, beautiful with the typical movement and character of the breed.
Enjoy and thank you for visiting!
Note*
Do not encourage the irresponsible breeding practice where there is animal abuse and the suffering of bitches. Do not abandon and most of all do not reproduce irresponsibly at your turn.
Thanks
I am very thankful to all the great breeders who trusted me by letting me have one or more of their puppies, it is always an honour.
A special thanks to my parents who have always supported me unconditionally in all my projects and all the people that before and currently have made this project possible.
