Welcome!
This web site was created to offer some general information about the Italian Sighthound breed and to show some of my work as a breeder. Here I present some pictures of my dogs, their titles, medical certificates and pedigree lines. For constant updates please follow me on Facebook, the link is at the bottom of the page.
My name is Héctor F. Gonzalez Aviles, I am from Mexico City and I love animals, especially the sighthound dogs. I have a degree in hotel business management and also I studied classical piano professionally for several years. Currently I work internationally as a seafarer on luxury private boats, living in the UAE half of the year and because of my work related travels, I have had the opportunity to import several individuals of Italian Greyhound from the best houses in Europe to live at home with my family in Mexico City.
I am developing a careful and responsible selective breeding under the FCI standard, I care for beauty, health and character of each dog. Each imported or home born individual is under observation for at least 18 months and then subject to medical clinical health tests before any breeding plans. Usually I test for heart and patella at the minimum, plus DNA tests.
The individuals who could eventually present any defect such as retained testicles, epilepsy, patella problem, extremely shyness, etc., are neutered and they never will be used in any breeding program. Only 40% of the imported dogs have passed all these initial filters. Later, a "test mating" is done to evaluate its reproductive qualities before their incorporation into the main blood lines. All this process is slow and requires time, lots of patience and resources.
All health certificates are also available in this web site under each dog´s profile.
I produce few litters a year, giving to the best homes the puppies I am not keeping. I do not make a living on this as my main activity, nor do I want or can meet a large demand.
The main reason I started importing dogs from Europe is because I found out a lack of good genetic stock to the FCI standard in Mexico to start my breeding (2017).
The name “D’Artusi” came after my son Artus and my first IG "Lady D´Artusi". I have not got yet my official suffix, on-going since it takes some years, for the moment all my litters have the suffix of my last name (Gonzalez).
History
I have had different breeds of dogs since my childhood and in 2015 I got my first IG, a red fawn female we called "Lady D'Artusi" from Mexico City with FCI registration. I was so happy that I immediately researched about the best breeders worldwide and thru the years I have been collecting several more dogs, coming from the best European show champion lines. Thus, my dogs have travelled with me in cabin from the Basque Country, Tenerife, Valencia, Paris, Bordeaux, Milan, Lithuania and Russia.
Vision
To produce and preserve a quality line of Italian Sighthounds for Mexico and the Americas under the Fédération Cynologique Internationale standard.
Thank you for your visit, I hope you enjoy it!
Thanks
I am very thankful to all the breeders who trusted me by letting me have one or more of their puppies, my work is a continuation and is based in all breeders´ work that were before me.
A special thanks to my parents who have always supported me unconditionally in all my projects and all the people that before and currently have made this project possible.
